Supporting Newcomers is one of the NWT OHT’s key priority areas, aimed at addressing the unique health and access barriers faced by immigrant and refugee communities. To support this work, the Newcomer Navigation Working Group was created to help meet the navigation needs of newcomers. As part of this work, we developed the Health Care Help for Newcomersinformation sheets to assist newcomers, refugee claimants, and non-status individuals in navigating our complex healthcare system.

To ensure accessibility, the Working Group also identified the most commonly used languages among Newcomer clients, and the resource was translated into Arabic, French, Spanish, and Ukrainian.
